#tbt by Nour Tabet - Beirut Design Week | TALK
ABOUT THE TALK:
This talk will explore the paradox of technology (looking toward to the future) with nostalgia (remembering the past). Memory is a search engine that creates empathy and nostalgia when triggered. With today's technological advancements, we have the ability to induce this empathy at any moment. We have reached the end of forgetting and the era of nostalgia on demand. We can take out our phone to go back on our Facebook timeline to find a photo we posted 7 years ago. We get notifications from Google reminding us of that trip we took to the beach on the same day last year.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZER:
Nour Tabet is a post-geographic designer. As part of the vast Lebanese diaspora, Tabet and her work often reflect membership in a global community. She earned her MFA in Graphic Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art and her BFA from the American University of Beirut. Nour is currently making digital things (products, conversations) as a Sr. Art Director at HUGE in Washington DC. Her work has been recognized by Webby’s, Adobe and published in books by the Princeton Architectural Press.
