Let's do something about it, #HandInHand!
Join Umanity and himaya , in Partnership with the USAID Lebanon Funded Lebanon Reforestation Initiative on Sunday, September 2, 2018, to #PreventChildAbuse and raise awareness on climate change and the importance of preventing forest fires.
The event will be taking place at Aaqoura, a mountainous village in Mount Lebanon Governorate. The hike will start from Aaqoura Youth Sports Club and through the apple groves and the village’s roads; to later reach “Saydet Al Hebes” and then enjoy local traditional food at “Rweis River". Local tour guides will be providing details about Aaqoura’s cultural, historical and contemporary heritage.
The hike distance will be around 8 km where it will take around 3 hours to reach the final point. It will consist of 2 levels:
Level 1: Easy
Level 2: Moderate (include via ferrata)
PROGRAM OF THE DAY:
9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Participants will check in and will be offered coffee, water and snacks. A gathering will then occur to discuss the hike instructions.
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: The hike starts at Aaqoura Youth Sports Club and ends at Rweis river.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Level 2 (Via Ferrata Rock)
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Seedlings, pots, and soil will be offered to the participants. For anyone who is willing to meditate, a yoga session will be provided too.
2:30 PM – 3:30 PM: Local traditional food (kebbet joz, maakroun and hrise) will be served for all participants, near Rweis spring.
3:30 PM: Departure from Aaqoura to the meeting points
BUS MEETING POINTS:
Buses will depart from 3 different locations:
1. Forum De Beirut Parking, Beirut at 7:45 AM
2. Public Garden Parking, Jbeil at 8:15 AM
3. Al manara Parking, Zahle at 7:45 AM
TICKET FEES:
Individual: $25
Groups of 5+: $20
A $5 extra fee will be added to the bus transportation.

WHAT TO GET:
