The Beirut Groove Collective
are back in Beirut
On Friday, 2nd October, The Beirut Groove Collective brings its cult club night back to Beirut for a night of adventurous dancefloor records at KED
Founded in Beirut in 2009, the BGC is a collective of vinyl DJs and crate diggers led by Ernesto Chahoud and Natalie Shooter, who DJ alongside guests, residents, and members of their international collective. For the past 17 years, they have been running their clubnight the BGC All-Nighter, in Beirut, London and across Europe, dedicated to obscure and underground dancefloor records from the 1960s to the 1980s, spanning the SWANA region, Africa and beyond
Rooted in the music and club culture of Beirut in the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, the night draws on pioneering records and subcultures from the period. Their sets celebrate the weird and the wonderful, tracing sonic links across global scenes – from Arabic and African funk, Lebanese '60s beat and bellydance disco to Latin tarab, Armenian estradayin, Anatolian rock, Ethiopian and Sudanese jazz and soul, funk and psych rarities from around the world
Ernesto and Natalie will be joined by longtime friend and BGC family member Diran Mardirian (Chico Records), with other special guests TBA
