Craft Innovation by Astrid Hauton: Future Living Studio at MENA DRC

Workshop

In this workshop of two consecutive sessions, designers are invited to collaborate with metal and leather craftsmen from the Bourj Hammoud community to highlights the potential of traditional craft for product innovation.

Following a strategic and operational approach, we will introduce you to different models for craft innovation and facilitate some co-creation sessions. Together, craftsmen and the designers will explore cultural features, in order to add extra value and promote local craft uniqueness towards new product ideas.

Beirut Design Week

Beirut Design Week is founded and organized by the MENA Design Research Center. An established annual platform to network, share knowledge, and showcase talent in order to strengthen the creative economies, develop entrepreneurship, and promote Lebanon's innovative culture. During the week more than 150 events in almost 100 locations around Beirut celebrate the best of Lebanese and International Design, bringing together more than 25,000 visitors. BDW is the largest design festival in the Middle East and North Africa and is running successfully for the 5th consecutive year.
