Brain Surgery - Raouf Matar
Hello, my name is Raouf Matar,
During 2021, something peculiar started happening; I began losing the capability to use my left leg. At first, this coincided with getting my COVID vaccine, and I had thought that this was a side effect of that, but after that persisted for a while, I went to several doctors and started an unlikely journey to understand what was going on with me.
Next, an Otolaryngologist had recommended that I do an RMI to find out what was going on.

After reviewing the results of the RMI, the OLR Doctor then sent me to a neurosurgeon, who discovered that there was edema in my skull due to an excess of fluid that needed to be drained, in addition to a benign brain tumor that should be removed as a second surgery, below is the Doctor's report in Arabic.

The Neurosurgeon is Doctor Ronald Moussa in Hotel Dieu de France, and here is what was required for the first surgery.
The first surgery for draining the excess liquid cost us around 50 Million Lebanese Pounds, which was equivalent to more than 15 times my monthly salary, and even if I had the money to do the surgery, most banks would not allow the withdrawal of more than 5 Million Lebanese Pounds per month. Without the help of my workplace, friends and family, I would not have been able to do it.
Here was my recovery process after the surgery.

Doctor Moussa recommended we do the second surgery after doing this second RMI in September
Unfortunately, the cost is extremely high: 15,000 US Dollars, which today is equal to 603,000,000 Lebanese Pounds due to the hyperinflation that is occurring in the country the fact which is not affordable by me in any way knowing that the National Social Security Fund will barely cover 3 % of the surgery cost.
Here is the report from the Doctor for the surgery that I need to do ASAP.

I am responsible for a family of 4 and am currently the only one employed, if I do not do the surgery and it impacts me physically, they will not have anyone to provide for them. This includes my 13-year-old son, Akram, whom my only wish, for now, is to see graduate.
Your help will allow me to see my son grow up and graduate, and continue to support my family in these extremely challenging times in Lebanon.
Thank you in advance,
Raouf
