A half-chewed french fry, a grain of pollen, an arrowhead, a prison pencil, a hotel key, a whole rattlesnake, a mythical sandwich and many moreโฆForeign Objects is an introduction to the work and readings that revolve around a constellation of ingested objects and bodily contents, both ancient and modern. Using these objects and their associated bodies or events, the artist will introduce the themes behind the exhibition and book, about how we tend to narrate our day-to-day and historical catastrophes through minutiae, through accidents, and hinge events, how we deal with historical indigestibles, things that are stuck or that have stuck around past their time, and how we attempt reconstitute and reimagine bodies through the things that they contain and the things they leave behind.
