From Cannabis to Bacchus: A Trip to Couvent Rouge - Sat, Nov 23rd
Deir el Ahmar, the northern region of the Bekaa Valley, was historically associated with cannabis but is now home to stretches of vineyards producing a new kind of Lebanese red. On this road trip, we'll visit Couvent Rouge, the winery that spun off from a cooperative that enabled farmers to transform the area from a hotbed for hash to a haven for vino.
WHAT TO EXPECT: This is a full-day trip to Deir el Ahmar, leaving Beirut at 8:00AM. Ticket includes bus transportation to & from Beirut, breakfast, a guided winery tour, a wine class with a tasting of 6 wines, and a full lunch spread. Farrah, our resident wine expert, will be there to guide you and answer any of your questions.
Farrah Berrou is a Certified Specialist of Wine, American Wine Expert, and WSET Level 2. She conducts classes on Lebanese wine in Beirut and will be giving a curated & guided wine class + tasting of Couvent Rouge's wines before lunch.
