The rock climbing season is just starting; get ready to improve your climbing skills & challenge yourself even more after these trainings!
Intermediate or advanced climber, you can benefit from these workshops!
• WHO IS THE TEACHER?
Malek Taleb has 18 years of climbing experience, and has worked in the climbing industry for 16 years. He was the former Team Manager for the Canadian National Bouldering Team, and is an Executive Board Member of the Ontario Climbing Federation.
Malek owns a climbing gym in Kingston, Ontario, and is the Head Coach of the gym's Adult and Youth Competitive Teams. He is also an outdoor climbing instructor, teaching various courses such as anchoring, sport climbing, trad climbing, and partner and self-rescue.
Malek is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and passion for climbing with members of the Lebanese climbing community.

Number of participants: 6
Course duration: 6 hours over 2 afternoons
Location: Nahr Beirut
Cost: 150$
Participants need to have the following:
1 - Knowledge of proper belay techniques.
2 - Previous experience climbing outdoors.
3 - Have the following equipment at minimum:
à harness (must be in good shape and within industry standards)
à helmet (must be in good shape and CE certifies (actual climbing helmet))
à must have some kind of personal anchor (no daisy chain)
à plate device (atc)
à prussik cord (1.25-1.5m cord 6-7mm in diameter)
à 1 pear-shaped (hms) carabiner (for the belay device) and 2 D-shapen carabiner (for the Prussik and the personal anchor).
Course will cover the following:
- Overview of materials used
- Basic knots and hitches needed
- Building 2 and 3 point anchors
- Building Secure Redundant Equalized No-extension anchors
- Trad anchors (if time and location permits)
- Cleaning anchors
- Setting up a proper rappel
** MAY 13 & 14 - BASIC PARTNER & SELF RESCUE **
Number of participants: 6
Course duration: 6 hours over 2 afternoons
Location: Nahr Beirut
Cost: 150$
Participants need to have the following:
1- Knowledge of proper belay techniques.
2- Previous experience climbing outdoors.
3- Have the following equipment at minimum:

à grigri or similar device
à plate (atc)
à prussik cord (1.25-1.5m cord 6mm-7mm in diameter)
à 2m -2.5 m coredelette 7mm cord
à 6 locking carabiners
Course will cover:
• Ascending a rope
• Taking over for an injured belayer
• Ascending to an injured or stuck climber
• Rappeling with an injured climber
• Escaping a belay
• Setting up a 3-1 haul system
• Setting up a 3-1 assisted haul system
