Self(ie) Portrait: A workshop on portraiture with Elsy Hajjar and Monica Basbous

Ages 6-12. Children must be accompanied.
Express and capture yourself through photography, illustration, and collage. This two-part workshop introduces kids to the history of portraiture, leading up to the more recent selfie. Children will have the chance to explore portraits through studio photography, illustration, and collage. Working closely with the workshop leaders, kids will work with different equipment, including cameras, lighting, mirrors, and paint.
This workshop is programmed in conjunction with the exhibition Ten Stories from the Sursock Museum Collection.
Elsy Hajjar is an independent director of photography working with film.
Monica Basbous is is an architect and urban researcher. Using various media, she explores the relationship between people and cities. Her focuses include mobility, informality, and the politics of public space.
