Born in Beirut on the 18th of June 1982, Bassel started playing the piano at the age of 3. At the age of 5, he started taking piano lessons. In 1991, he pursued his piano education with the renowned teacher and pedagogue professor Zvart Sarkissian, a pupil of Marguerite Long and Jacques Février and teacher of many pianists like Abdulrahman Al Bacha, Walid Hourani and others. In 2007, Bassel began taking lessons with Professor Gerhard Erber in Leipzig, Germany.
Bassel has been performing for more than 16 years on a regular basis in concerts and recitals in Lebanon. His repertoire ranges from Bach to Glass, his main interest is the European Romantic School especially Liszt, Schumann and Chopin. Bassel appeared publicly in several performances including piano concertos like Schumann and Saint-Saens and solo programs like Liszt in “Années de Pèlerinage”, “Études d'exécution transcendante”, and works by other composers like Schumann, Beethoven, Mozart, Scriabin. His latest performances included Liszt’s Sonata in B minor and Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto.
Bassel currently lives in Beirut and works as a physician in Ear, Nose, and Throat. He pursues his musical career and continuously participates in piano activities.
