Innovation Through Biomimicry - Joanna Jurdi

Innovation Through Biomimicry - Joanna Jurdi
Do you want to create innovative designs, breakthrough ideas that solve the most urgent and difficult human challenges we face today?
This workshop is dedicated to you:
Learning to identify challenges, seek nature's 3.8 billion year old genius and wisdom in solving them and translating what we find into design.
Bio...what? Biomimicry is innovation inspired by nature. It’s the deep study of forms, patterns, processes and ecosystems, learning from nature’s genius to better inform our designs, solving challenges more efficiently as nature already did and becoming more integrated to our environment.
Outcome:
Addressing challenges one faces in one’s projects, viewing them with new lens. Learn the biomimetic methodology of creating concepts and developing innovative and ecologically sustainable designs.
-Basing designs on scientific facts by examining existing studies and scientific literature in diverse natural sciences that by analogy can lead to design breakthrough.
-Understanding nature, ecological systems and how they function in closed loops and how we can mimic those ecosystems to design our metropolis.
Program:
Day 1
-Introduction to biomimicry, elements and key case studies
-Application: Identifying your challenges
-Scoping, Identifying functions,
-Discovering...Deep dives for inspiring champion organisms.
-Abstracting design principles
-Translating the design principles to solving our challenges
-Creating innovative concepts and ideas through the process of Biomimicry
Day 2
-Application: Biology to design, reconnect, from deep observation of nature to
creating new ideas
-Introduction to Life’s Principles
-Nature as measure, model and mentor
-Measuring our designs as per Life’s Principles.
