Winter Dreams
Al Bustan Festival presents:
Alexandra Soumm - Violin
Tbilisi State Opera Orchestra
Gianluca Marcianò - conductor
Mendelssohn takes us to the west coast of Scotland by depicting the echoes of the extraordinary Fingal’s Cave in the Hebrides archipelago. This famous cave is mentionned by Jules Verne in his book « Le Rayon Vert ». Beethoven’s violin concerto will be played by Russian born violinist Alexandra Soumm, from France.
The orchestra will play Tchaikovsky’s first symphony, also called “Winter Day Dreams”.
Gianluca Marcianò
Gianluca Marcianò is one of the most exciting young conductors to emerge from Italy in recent years. The 37-year- old conductor holds the title of Musical Director and Principal Conductor of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet and is also the Music Director of the Al Bustan Festival. He made his debut in the English
National Opera (ENO) in 2013, conducting a revival of Anthony Minghella’s award- winning production of Madama Butterfly. Future projects will see Marciano return to Grange Park in the UK as well as performances in Moscow at the Vivacello Festival and at London’s Wigmore Hall.
