RDV #52: Guided tour of Zena el Khalil’s exhibition ‘Sacred Catastrophe: Healing Lebanon’
Dear all,
Agenda Culturel invites you to attend a guided tour of Zena el Khalil's exhibition 'Sacred Catastrophe: Healing Lebanon' led by the artist.
The multidisciplinary artist and writer Zena el Khalil aims at transforming Beirut into a "city of light" through a 40 day public performance and exhibition showing her "healing" paintings created in site-specific locations that endured violence, trauma and environmental disasters throughout the turbulent Lebanese history of wars and invasions.
The intervention is using one of Beirut's most iconic war-torn buildings, Beit Beirut, located on the former demarcation line of the city, to create a platform for community reconciliation. This is the first time Beit Beirut is open to the public for a solo exhibition.
Zena el Khalil believes in the positive impact that art can have on the world. Her work includes mixed media paintings, installations and performance that focus on creating a culture of peace through love, compassion, forgiveness and empathy.
Don't miss it!
