Who is Embrace?

Embrace is an awareness support network for mental health in Lebanon and the Middle East affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). It is a one of its kind charitable and fundraising initiative for mental illnesses.

Embrace’s Mission

To create a better understanding of mental health and illness in Lebanon through public education and screening programs

To break through and end the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness through public dialogue

To provide financial assistance for underprivileged individuals seeking treatment for their mental illnesses

Embrace’s Goals

To increase public and professional awareness of mental health issues

To ensure that mental and emotional health is supported at all levels of policy making and strategic planning

To ensure that individuals suffering from mental illnesses in Lebanon have access to optimal psychiatric and psychological care

To reduce the suffering of patients and their families and prevent the disabling consequences resulting from untreated mental illnesses
