Re-Mapping Karantina by Lebanese Architecture Club

Re-Mapping Karantina by Lebanese Architecture Club
The workshop consists of an introduction to creative mapping practices through a case study of Karantina. It will include on-site explorations, discussions, and the production of maps in different media.
We will re-examine and re-map the Karantina neighborhood individually or in small groups, using the tools available and accessible – our bodies, vehicles, phones, cameras or computers.
Focusing on their interests and observations, participants are invited to translate their own understanding, knowledge and experience of the space using the tools of their choosing.
At the end of the day, we will collectively discuss this process, and its role in the relation to the city. We will also present and discuss the results – a collection of drawings, images, films, text, sounds (…), each documenting an aspect of the neighborhood and a different relation between the author and the space. Please bring with you the tools/materials you would like to work with. Workshop by Monica Basbous.
* The workshop requires no previous experience and it will be in English and Arabic.
** The conversation at the end of the workshop is open to the public at 05:00 PM.
