Forgetfulness episode Outline
1)
Where did I last lay down my car keys? What did I need at the grocerystore, now that I'm standing in its aisles? What day is that important meeting
scheduled? I came into this room but what I did want to get from it? There is
something I want to tell you but I can't remember what is!

Is it normal to forget? And how much forgetfulness is normal?3) What is memory?
4) What are the medical conditions that
can lead to memory loss?
5)
Are thereother non-medical reasons for forgetting that could be happening in everyday
life?
6)
Is there aDiet we can follow to boost memory?
7) What are some generaltips you can give us to keep our memory strong and sharp?
8) One thing we would like to remember is names! Are there techniques to help with this?
About the Speaker:
Sawsan Wazzan Jabri graduated with a MS degree in Nutrition from AUB
(1981); Married to Rifaat Jabri graduate of MS Food Technology from AUB (1981);
and a mother of 4 children.
She and her husband were pioneers in establishing the Nutrition and Diet
Center (1990), the 1st of its kind in the Middle East. The center's
success lead to the largest franchise in Saudi Arabia 1996 which serves more
than 5,000 clients daily and franchises in Kuwait 2002, and Qatar 2004.
Diet Center's successes in Lebanon lead to the opening of branches in
Kornet Chehwan and in Zahle 2012.
Her activities include raising awareness through media and TV programs
(Star Academy, Superstar, Beauty Clinic, Biggest Loser…), summer camps, schools,
seminars, and conferences. Other activities include joint ventures with 5 star
hotels, schools, restaurants, and Middle East Airlines. In 2010, Sawsan launched
her own Radio show مع أطيب تحيات سوسن which airs Fridays
on Voice of Lebanon.
In 2015, she also collaborated with the Lebanese Down
Syndrome Association to incorporate people with Down syndrome and special needs
into the workforce.
Sawsan is currently the Co-Owner and Executive Director of
the franchising company headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon. She is also
supervising all nutritional and food service activities in all countries as part
of the franchise agreement.
She is a board member of the executive committee for the Lebanese Academy for Nutrition & Dietetics (LAND), board member of the advisory board of the
school of Agriculture & Food Science at AUB, board member of the Chamber of
Commerce, Industry, & Agriculture of Beirut & Mount Lebanon, and a
board member of دار الأيتام الإسلامية .
Sawsan has been granted several prestigious awards throughout her
career:
- In 2002: Award for outstanding accomplishment (AUB)
- In 2007: Lebanese leader and “moubdi3a" on the basis of entrepreneurship and creativity by H.E. Mrs. Bahia Hariri, during the 3rd economic businesswomen forum “global entrepreneurs" held in Bahrain.
- In 2010, she was selected among the “Women Achievers in Hospitality" during the 2010 Hospitality Annual Awards Ceremony.
- In 2014 she ranked 51st on the Forbes list of the most powerful Arab Women
- In 2014, her business The Diet Center won the “Business of the Year" award granted by BLC Bank
