The Chain Reaction Ride
'The Chain Reaction' is a series of cycling events that aim to make a difference in the lives of patients and the charities that support them.
Join us in the first Chain Reaction Ride that will take place on Sunday the 19th of July in Lebanon!
- What are the courses?
Riders will choose between two riding option:
• Course 1: 40 km course - from Byblos to Balamand.
• Course 2: 18 km course - from Byblos to Batroun.
*Course distances are approximate measurements only.

- Are bicycles and helmets being provided?
If you would like your bicycle and helmet to be provided, don't forget to mention it during registration. Bicycles and helmets available are limited, so make sure you register early!
- What time do we start?
Both events will commence in Byblos. The 40 km event will start at 8:30 am and the 18 km event will start at 9:00 am.
We encourage participants to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the starting time to collect their gear (bibs, bikes and helmets).
- How will I get to Byblos?
If needed, transportation will be provided from Beirut to Byblos. During registration, make sure to mention if you would be needing a ride and from where.
- Event schedule:
• 8:00 am: Gear collection at the Steer North Tent in Byblos
• 8:30 am: 40 km ride to Balamand begins
• 9:00 am: 18 km ride to Batroun begins
• 12:00 pm: Finish line celebrations to commence
• 1:00 pm: Last participant expected to have crossed the finish line
• 1:30 pm: Presentations to commence
• 2:00 pm: Music and entertainment to start.
- If I am riding the first course (from Byblos to Batroun), how will I get to the finish line celebration?
For those riding the first course, buses will transport everyone from Batroun to the finish line celebration.
- What will happen at the finish line?
• Food and Drinks
• Music and Entertainment
• A presentation introducing Steer North and its mission.
- How much does it cost to enter? And what is included?
For $35 you get:

- Where does the money go?
The funds raised will benefit the Steer North cancer appeal and The Partners in Hope Fund for the Children Hospital Project at St George’s Hospital.
- Who is Steer North?
Steer North is a not-for-profit organization founded by two young Lebanese in Australia. Its purpose is to advance health by engaging in community awareness through cycling based events and supporting initiatives related to cancer research, education and patient care.
Steer North’s signature event is an annual 4000 km cycling journey on the Eastern coast of Australia; the first signature event will be taking place in December 2016. Steer North riders will undergo an 18 month leadership program. On their journey across Australia, they will create a mobile community in the aim of inspiring hope, offering support and generating public awareness for cancer. The Steer North ride will be the longest annual charity bike ride in the country.
