What is Beirut Madinati? It is a beautiful initiative that started with incredibly dedicated and competent people, professionals, from all sorts of fields, who want to overcome the current political deadlock. They aim to improve our communal lives by achieving a simple goal: Winning a majority of seats in the Beirut municipal council in order to implement a simple attainable 10-point platform.

Beirut municipality impacts almost half of Lebanon's population (residents and workers) and having competent and trustworthy representatives at its head can bring much needed positive change to the city. The elections are on May 8 and the possibility of winning a majority of seats is looking very tangible.

We've been expanding on a grassroots level in neighborhoods, contacting family associations, and other key stakeholders in the city such as hospitals, universities, hotels, supermarkets, etc. While some may consider that we do not have a chance, you would be surprised with the momentum we have gained when people are finding out we are independents, real independents.

The program is unique and viable, conceived by true professionals and experts, who have struggled to improve the city for years. They are concerned by the right issues and are working hard to achieve them. The program includes addressing livability issues such as municipal solid waste, transportation within Beirut and covering Metropolitan Beirut, street lighting, private sector initiatives, fixing sidewalks and making them accessible, public and green spaces, to mention but a few of their priorities.
