The Living Heritage Atlas Event is a roundtable and mapping event that engages participants in a discussion on Beirut's urban living heritage . In this event, the MIT Future Heritage Lab and the MIT Civic Data Design Lab will present the digital archive of geolocated historical data of craftsmanship in Beirut collected from local archives, residents and craftspeople. The event is divided into two parts: (1) Mapping Methods, which aims to connect local stakeholders through an animated panel-discussion workshop to investigate potential design and data-driven research methodologies that activate public space, create awareness, and inform policy decisions and (2) Mapathons, in which participants help grow the existing database of craftsmanship in Beirut by mapping new data they have brought with them. Invitees and guests are asked to bring with them a living heritage item to contribute to the living heritage atlas. We define this element as a photograph, plan, guidebook, newspaper clipping, or artefact related to the past, present of crafts and craftsmanship in the city. All items will be scanned by our data collectors and returned by the end of the event.

"أطلس التراث الحي" هو حدث يتضمّن حلقة حوار ورسم خرائط حيث يُشارك الحاضرون مباشرة في حوارات حول التخطيط المدني وتراث بيروت الحيّ. في هذا الحدث، سيقدم مختبرا التراث المستقبلي ومختبر تصميم البيانات المدنية في معهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا، الأرشيف الرقميّ للبيانات التاريخيّة للحرف اليدويّة في بيروت الذي تمّ جمعه من الأرشيفات المحلية، العمل الميداني، معرفة السّكّان، والحرفيّين. ينقسم الحدث  إلى قسمين: (1) توثيق الأساليب ،والتي تهدف إلى ربط أصحاب المصلحة المحليّين من خلال ورشة عمل لمناقشة التصميم المحتمل ومنهجيّات البحث القائمة على البيانات التي تنشط الفضاء العام ، وتخلق الوعي ، وتسترشد بها القرارات السياسية و (2) Mapathons ، حيث يساعد المشاركون في تنمية قاعدة البيانات الحاليّة للحرفية في بيروت عن طريق اضافة  البيانات الجديدة التي جلبوها معهم.  يُطلب من المدعويّن والضيوف إحضار عنصر تراثي حيّ معهم للمساهمة في أطلس التراث الحي. يمكن أن يكون هذا العنصر عبارة عن صورة فوتوغرافية أو خطة أو كتيّب إرشادي أو قصاصة من الصحف أو قطعة أثرية تتعلق بالماضي وحاضر الحرف والحرف اليدوية في المدينة. سيتم مسح جميع العناصر ضوئيًا رقميًا بواسطة جامعي البيانات لدينا وإعادتها بحلول نهاية الحدث.
